Introduction: Reflecting on 2014 Outfits
Entering the exciting realm of fashion, it is hard not to look back. 2014 was a year with confident and quirky outfits, as well as ‘outfit mess moments’ to look back at. It had a little bit of everything, and it has a lot of outfits that are memorable. This post is a reflection on my 2014 outfits. I will rewrite blogs that will record the outfits that I will gain confidence in and that I will feel I have style, and I will not forget the ones that I will regret.
A. Description of the 2014 outfits

From 2014, numerous outfits come to mind, and with them, different styles and varying combinations. It was a year of fun accessories and crazy styles. The “cool in effortless” was fully captured with bold patterns. 2014 outfits sweaters with printed, pop-culture-legend leggings, and other similar pieces became the basic staples of the ensemble.
Most of the combinations ravaged the spectrum of pastels and ‘neoned’ perfection, which was a bold statement in those years. The looks were finished off fabulously and completed with giant and chunky statement necklaces, other big accessories, and some retro-style sunglasses.
2014 outfits perfectly blended style with comfort. I had a variety of skater and flowy maxi dresses, which defined the dominant pieces of my outfits. I really enjoyed the variety in shoes. The civil dresses and the ankle boots created a funky and stylish clashing combination and a fun variety. It was the fun and playful style, in balance with functionality, that defined the fashion of 2014 for many lovers of fashion, and me.
B. Occasion/Event it was2014 outfits
Social calendar events are all about thinking about different outfits for different occasions! Enough variety for a wedding, a casual brunch, and even an art gallery opening… and they were all eclectic enough for each different atmosphere! I wore a flowy, summer floral print, maxi dress to a wedding in June. It was perfect, 2014 outfits summery for a sunny garden wedding during the June heat… I was comfortable, and the atmosphere was perfect for the dress!
2014 outfits those casual Sundays spent in my denim shorts, which I easily paired with high-waisted shorts and colorful slip-ons, to while away the time in local markets. It was comfortable enough for wandering the streets, and practical to spend an entire day in. My favorite summer highlight was attending a music festival in September. I loved wearing my bohemian fringed jacket and the wide-brimmed hat, which was festival-appropriate!
The combination of my outfit in general gave me the confidence to fully enjoy the summer festival. Each day was more than a term of clothing to me, as each outfit captured a specific moment in time that I continue to cherish.
A. Description of the 2014 outfits
2014 was a year filled with unique, daring fashion choices and varied styles. My closet felt like a place to experiment, speaking a new story with each ensemble. I played with different styles, pairing cheerful and varied patterns and even mixing florals with geometric designs. The goal was to capture attention and make a statement. During the warm weather, I wore a maxi dress with patterned sleeves, while tailored blazers finished off more casual looks with a polished touch.
It was easy to style denim for every occasion! I keep my casual style fairly simple, to which I added bold statement accessories for some more dimension. I wore tees with simple patterns, and on Sundays, I toned down my outfit with a wide-brimmed hat. 2014 outfits were warm and bold too; think a mix of summer colors like bright yellows, deep blues, and corals. Every cheap and simple dress I gave was unique. The collection I crafted understood my exploration, personal, and through fashion.
C. Why it didn’t work in 2014 outfits
Not every outfit I put together in 2014 was a winner. In fact, some distractions that have nothing to do with one’s personal styling can cloud judgment and lead to unfortunate results. I did experiment with some uniquely layered styles, and I believe I may have over-layered. Ultimately, the layering was heavy and unappealing.
My color decisions, too, were a problem. I ordered some bold pieces that, in photos and from far away, were pretty, but when I put them on, they completely clashed with my skin.
I also felt some of my accessories were too distracting and just made the outfit worse when they could have elevated the outfit instead. In 2014 outfits were made to wear uncomfortable clothing to “look pretty.” For one of the events or functions, I was made to wear high heels, which were just painful.
5 2014 outfits
2014 outfits first outfits in my 2014 wardrobe was a casual day out, waist-length jeans, and a floral crop top combination. This was fresh and vibrant enough and suitable enough for brunch with friends or for a casual day out. After that was the evening dress for a wedding, which was simple enough. The deep navy color complemented my skin, and the lace details were not over the top, which was perfect for the occasion.
I remember my work outfits with the tailored blazer and fitted trousers. It embodied the professionalism that the role required but still allowed me to show a little of my personality, which was classy.
This was the festival outfit that was the most fun. This set was perfect for the outdoor summer music festivals. The vibe was just perfect. Although I sometimes think of incorporating trendy items into my wardrobe, I have worn faux leather leggings as an attempt to form an ‘outfit combination’ and only realized after I was about to give up that they are uncomfortable and itchy after a couple of hours. Each piece of clothing documents a chapter of our history. These memories are worth celebrating, and some of the clothing is worth keeping, and that is wonderful, and I have fashions to prove that.
